Phenomenon Meaning - Oversized heavyweight sweatshirt

Phenomenon- this piece was created for the 4x5 Chicagoland Art Show while she was in AP Studio Art. The inspiration is the feeling one gets when they listen to music. During a cappella, she and her classmates would do a warmup called a sound circle where they would gather in a circle and close their eyes while someone began with a melody or beat. Then slowly they all added on and created some sort of song while they kept their eyes closed, and they slowly let the song die out. During the sound circles, while the artist was closing her eyes, she would subconsciously start visualizing colors and textures that felt like the song they created. The first time the artist did the sound circle, she saw the color orange and a swirly, smooth texture while closing her eyes.
This phenomenon is called synesthesia, specifically chromesthesia.
Synesthesia is a condition where you experience cross-sensory through linking senses or cognitive pathways. Chromesthesia is perceiving colors from sounds.
